Gift Guide for the Bride to Be

The holidays are right around the corner, so I've put together a little gift guide for any brides-to-be in your life. See my top picks (and links to the goods!) below.

Overnight Bag- Wedding Star

This bag is the perfect size for a bride's wedding night. It's a great overnight bag that she can use to show off her new initials. It is also durable (the bottom has a coating on it) and super cute!

Since it is Christmastime, personalized ornaments are an easy and memorable gift!

"She Said Yes" Ornament- Coton Colors

This beauty can help memorialize the day (and makes for a great photo op!) They have tons of designs to choose from, too.

Personalized Ornament-Cabany Co

If your bride already has her date, then this personalized ornament would be perfect. They have many other states and designs to choose from as well.

Engagement Ring Ornament- Hobby Lobby (check your local store!)

This is another great memento to help remember the big day. It also could be used for a newly wed gift as well!

Bridal Oxford- Elegant Monograms

This shirt is perfect to get ready in on your wedding day. The button-up style makes sure that you won't mess your hair and makeup up when changing into your dress. It can be personalized with different colors and monogram options. I was lucky enough to win this from a giveaway between Elegant Monograms and Southern Bride Magazine. I couldn't be happier!

Thanksgiving Turkey Treats

Here at Everything Glitters, we love Thanksgiving.  It is great spending time with family and friends and of course, the food is always amazing!  Today on the blog we thought we'd share a fun treat for you to make and share with your loved ones.  Our mom used to make these cute cupcakes for my sister and I to take to school and share with our classmates.  They were always a hit and we're sure they will be loved by whoever you share them with!  Let's get started!

First, you will need the ingredients to make the cupcakes.  I buy yellow cake mix, but you can buy whatever kind you prefer.  Your ingredients might be different based on the brand of cake mix you buy, but mine called for eggs, water and vegetable oil to add to the mix.  Get all of that mixed together and then fill your cupcake pans.  I lined mine with liners to make for an easy clean up!  They are so great!

Bake your cupcakes in the oven according to the directions and when they are done pull them out and let them cool.  I always stick a toothpick in them to make sure they are done.  Once they are cool to the touch it is time to decorate.  Get all of your ingredients together and make sure you have plenty of space to work with.

For the decorations you will need icing (I use chocolate, but again you could choose something different), Oreos, Whoppers, small cinnamon candies, candy corn (I found mine at Walgreens after Halloween and they were 75% off) and sprinkles if you would like.  For the candy corn, I buy the kind that are orange, brown and white to look more like actual turkey feathers.  Let's decorate!

First, ice each cupcake and add sprinkles if you would like.

Next, what you want to do is take the Oreo apart and put some frosting on one half.  Then, take your candy corn (I use 5 on each Oreo) and arrange them to look like the feathers of a turkey.  Once you have that together push it down into your iced cupcake until the candy corn are touching the icing.

Next, place your Whopper in front of your Oreo and candy corn and then a cinnamon candy in front of the Whopper.  There you have it - a cute and easy to make turkey treat to enjoy for Thanksgiving!  This is a fun idea for kids to make too!

We hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family and friends.  We are thankful to be able to share our blog with you and hope you enjoy!  Until next time, Happy Thanksgiving!!

Stripes & Leather

Leather has to be one of my favorite fall details. It always adds a little edge to any outfit. I love this skirt in particular because it makes my work clothes a bit more fun. Get all the details (including direct links) below!

Outfit Details: Skirt- Worthington (JC Penney) or get the updated version here, Top- Old Navy (similar here), Shoes- Nine West, Watch- Fossil (similar here), Earrings- Walmart, Bracelet- Cotton On

I love the look of leather with leather. These classic pumps are a staple for any closet. They help to dress up this look just a bit. Plus, they are super comfy.

I kept my accessories pretty simple with this look. A few touches of gold (including these killer ear jackets), add just enough bling to this look. A bright, bold lip and lined eye add just enough of a pop.

Overall, this look made me feel a little sassy. I loved the way this skirt moved and just the over all vibe of this outfit. What is your go to leather look? Let us know in the comments below!

Fall Wedding Wear

I absolutely LOVE fall weddings.  The colors are always so rich and beautiful and I get to wear my fall colored dresses.  I especially love maroon colored dresses for fall weddings.  Not to mention it is the PERFECT Texas A&M color!

Outfit Details: Dress-Express (old style but similar here), Shoes-Jessica Simpson (old style but similar here), Earrings -Forever 21, Necklace- Forever 21 (similar here)

The bride's colors were maroon and gold and she told people to dress in those colors if they wanted, so of course I did!  The lace on this dress is so nice and makes me feel all dolled up.  I love the one sleeve look as well as it is different than your ordinary strapless or sleeved dress.

These shoes are some of my favorites!  They are surprisingly comfortable and go with almost anything.  I loved them so much that I bought them in silver too - just in case I was wearing a more cool toned outfit.  They are really perfect with any dressier outfit!

Lastly, I picked some simple gold jewelry to tie the look together.  I have to admit I love Forever 21's jewelry.  It is affordable and they have so much to choose from!  These earrings are so great and can really finish a look.  I kept the necklace simple since the dress was lace and I didn't want anything too crazy.  The bracelet is actually from Victoria's Secret that I got last Christmas.

To finish off the look I did my makeup in colors to compliment my dress.  For the eyes I used the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette.  The blush was a combination of shades from the holiday Tarte Bling It On Amazonian Clay Blush Palette.  Lastly for the lips I used Buxom San Francisco.

I think this look is so great for a fall wedding or just a nicer event you might be attending during the fall season.  It could be worn in the winter as well!  What is your go to look for a fall wedding? Let me know in the comments below!

It's Game Day Ags!

It's my favorite time of the year: Fall. Full of cooler weather, better clothes, and of course football. Last weekend, I watched my Ags BTHO Arkansas in this perfectly fall game day outfit.

Outfit Details: Top-Target (old Style but similar here), Skirt-TJ Maxx/Marshall's (similar here), Boots-Corral, Purse- Tory Burch, Earrings-NOON Design Shop (Use discount code Glitter20 to save 20%), Sunglasses-Ray-Ban, Necklace-Kendra Scott

With AT&T Stadium's strict bag rules, this Tory Burch is the only bag I own that I can take in. It is the perfect size for my cards, cell phone, and NOON Design tinted lip balm.

Cowboy boots are also a must for Texas Football season. I love my Corral's. They are definitely worth the investment. The brown and black color combo also means they go with any outfit under the sun. This suede mini was a recent Marshall's/TJ Maxx steal. I can't wait to pair this with many more looks for this fall.

Lastly, the little details really make the outfit. One of staples is my Kendra Scott Bronze Drusy. It pairs with anything really. My new Noon Design earrings also add just a pop of color up top. Lastly, my Ray-Bans are the go to for those sunny tailgating adventures.

Overall, I love this outfit for a fun fall, game day look. What is your go to outfit for cheering on your team? Let me know in the comments below!

Festival Style

ACL is THIS weekend, and I am super pumped. In honor of this awesome music festival, I am sharing one of my festival looks I will be rocking in a couple of days.

Outfit Details: Vest-Decree only at JC Penney, Dress-Amazon, Booties-ZiGiny; Necklace-Stolen from my Mom (no really, it was), Earrings-Mill No. 3

This is my first year to attend ACL, so I wanted my outfits to be on point. From what I've seen, ACL is a land of crazy-hipster-rocker outfits, and I wanted to fit in. I figured, what's better than a fringe vest?

I mean look at it when I spin? It's so magical. This dress was also a crazy Amazon find. I have a thing where I will scour pages and pages of cheap dresses to see if I can find anything good. The quality is always mediocre, but good enough for the price ($10 for this!).

I kept my accessories pretty simple. A tassel necklace to compliment the fringe.

These earrings are from a new boutique here in Dallas, Mill No. 3. They are these cool slim chains that you literally pull through your piercing. So strange, but so cool.

I am so excited to get down to Austin to rock out in this new look. Do you have any festival go to's? Let us know in the comments below!

A Truly Texan Proposal

It is still so crazy to think that I am officially engaged to my best friend. This is something I feel like I dreamed about for a while now. Before the planning gets crazy, I want to reflect and share the perfectly Texan way Alex (with the help of my family) proposed (video is below!).

It all started with my mom wanting a family pic...I was instructed to wear a maxi dress. I thought it was odd, but didn't push it. When we arrived for Labor Day weekend, I was told that my parents had a surprise for Danielle and I. Again, odd, but I didn't question it since it was for both of us.

Little did I know this was all a lie, and Danielle was totally in on it. I finally made it to the top of the dock with help from my mom, As I waited in anticipation, my mom yells "This is something that you've been wanting for a looooong time!" I thought, could this be it?! Instead, I was un-blindfolded to see Alex and my brother-in-law holding fresh containers of none other than Blue Bell Ice Cream. Considering Blue Bell's comeback had been a hot topic in our household, I was pretty excited. Yet, something felt off.

As you see in the video, Alex had a different type of ice in his container. My face shows it all. Pure shock and joy all in one. I couldn't control the tears. I was so unbelievably happy, plus I was surrounded by my family which made it even sweeter.

I think these pictures perfectly show my facial expression when I realize what is actually happening.

After the tears cleared, we had to take rounds of photos. My mom and sister made a million signs and cute things to hold.

I'm so happy that I got to have this special experience with my family. I couldn't have been happier to have them all by our side during this exciting time.

I'll never forget this special tub of Cookies'n'Cream. It made this a truly Texan proposal for the books.

Now to get on to planning forever with this cutie.
