Here at Everything Glitters, we love Thanksgiving. It is great spending time with family and friends and of course, the food is always amazing! Today on the blog we thought we'd share a fun treat for you to make and share with your loved ones. Our mom used to make these cute cupcakes for my sister and I to take to school and share with our classmates. They were always a hit and we're sure they will be loved by whoever you share them with! Let's get started!
First, you will need the ingredients to make the cupcakes. I buy yellow cake mix, but you can buy whatever kind you prefer. Your ingredients might be different based on the brand of cake mix you buy, but mine called for eggs, water and vegetable oil to add to the mix. Get all of that mixed together and then fill your cupcake pans. I lined mine with liners to make for an easy clean up! They are so great!
Bake your cupcakes in the oven according to the directions and when they are done pull them out and let them cool. I always stick a toothpick in them to make sure they are done. Once they are cool to the touch it is time to decorate. Get all of your ingredients together and make sure you have plenty of space to work with.
For the decorations you will need icing (I use chocolate, but again you could choose something different), Oreos, Whoppers, small cinnamon candies, candy corn (I found mine at Walgreens after Halloween and they were 75% off) and sprinkles if you would like. For the candy corn, I buy the kind that are orange, brown and white to look more like actual turkey feathers. Let's decorate!
First, ice each cupcake and add sprinkles if you would like.
Next, what you want to do is take the Oreo apart and put some frosting on one half. Then, take your candy corn (I use 5 on each Oreo) and arrange them to look like the feathers of a turkey. Once you have that together push it down into your iced cupcake until the candy corn are touching the icing.
Next, place your Whopper in front of your Oreo and candy corn and then a cinnamon candy in front of the Whopper. There you have it - a cute and easy to make turkey treat to enjoy for Thanksgiving! This is a fun idea for kids to make too!
We hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family and friends. We are thankful to be able to share our blog with you and hope you enjoy! Until next time, Happy Thanksgiving!!
