Tribal Fun: Affordable Summer Maxi Dress

Affordable Maxi Dress

I'm going to start off by saying Target has had some great dresses this summer!  Maxi dresses are hands down one of my favorite things to wear.  They are so easy to throw on and can be dressed up or down.  Get all the details and links to this look below.

Affordable Maxi Dress

This dress is perfect for summer!  I love the funky tribal print and neon colors.  I love that the lining hits right at the knee and the slits on the side help keep this nice and breezy.  I paired this with simple sparkly sandals, but this could easily be dressed up with wedges as well.

Lastly, I paired it with a blue necklace to make the blue pop in the dress.  You could easily pair this with other necklaces to make other colors pop in the dress.  I have my eye on a neon Kendra Scott necklace that would be great with this!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous summer!  Stay cool and tune in for our upcoming posts!

Red Hot Maxi: A Summer Favorite

As I've said a million times before, I live for maxi's in the summertime. Get all the details and links to this look below.

Outfit Details: Dress-JC Penney, Vest-Target, Watch-Fossil, Stone Bracelet-Kendra Scott, Fringe Bracelets-Forever 21, Earrings-Kendra Scott, Necklace-Kendra Scott {Sorry for the KScott addiction...}, Shoes-Target

This stunner is gorgeous. It has tons of beaded detail and can easily be dressed up or down. Here I dressed it down, but slap on some wedges and it is perfect for a day wedding. I accessorized with gold and tassels to glam it up a bit.

Lastly, I paired it with these adorable fringe sandals. These are kids-shoes (#sorrynotsorry I have small feet), but here are some similar ones for big kids.

Mimi's Sugar Cookies

I don't know about you, but I feel like a good sugar cookie recipe is hard to come by. My grandma, Mimi, however has a killer one that always turns out great. These are simple and adorable (plus super yummy!). You only need 8 ingredients to make them. So what are you waiting for?! Get all the details below.

You'll Need:
2 Sticks/1 Cup of  Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 Egg
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
3 Cups Flour
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1/4 Teaspoon Almond Extract
{Extract amounts can be mixed however; I used 3/4 Teaspoon Vanilla & 1/2 Teaspoon Almond}
1/4 Teaspoon Salt (Or Use Salted Butter)
Sugar Crystal Sprinkles (Red Look Great!)

Recommended Tools:
Mixer of Choice (Love My KitchenAid)
Baking Sheet
Silicon Baking Sheet Cover
Cookie Scoop
Small Dish
Wine Glass (will explain...no it's not for a prep bevarage!)

-Preheat Oven to 400 degrees-

Mix butter, sugar, eggs, and extracts until creamy.

Slowly add in flour and baking powder (splash guards and a dish towel recommended to prevent the mess I made...).

Use the cookie scoop to fill a sheet. I fit about 15-20 per {larger} sheet.

Pour a generous amount of sprinkles on to the plate. Dip the rounded side of dough into the sprinkles and return to baking sheet, sprinkle-side up.

Use the bottom of the wine glass to slightly flatten the cookies.

Once they are all flattened to about the same thickness, pop them in the oven for 8-10 minutes. The silicon sheet helps to keep them from browning too much, so that way they stay super soft!

After you let them cool, try not to eat them all! Just kidding, but really they are delicious.

L'Oreal Ultimate Straight Review

Ultimate Straight (67)

So, about a month ago I was sent the entire L'Oreal Ultimate Straight line to test out by Influenster. They wanted me to give this line a try and see what my thoughts were about it. Get all the details and my recommendation below.

Ultimate Straight (52)

The Ultimate Straight line consist of four steps (shampoo, pre-conditioner {use once a week}, conditioner, and styling creme). The pre-conditioner and styling creme will definitely last you through a couple of bottles of shampoo/conditioner, so they are worth the investment. The above picture was after I washed and dried my hair, but before styling. I definitely have straight hair, but this helped to make my hair smooth and straight before styling which is great!

Ultimate Straight (42) Ultimate Straight (39)

After a quick pass of a straightener, I got the above results. My hair was silky smooth and frizz-free, which was great in this Texas heat and humidity.

Ultimate Straight (30) Ultimate Straight (29)

I try not to wash my hair everyday because I have heard that it strips your hair of all of the good oils. Instead, I try to get some second-day wear out of my washes with the help of Not Your Mother's Dry Shampoo (it's my favorite!). I was impressed to see how smooth my hair remained. It still had some good shine too. I was impressed with how well it held up during the second day.

Ultimate Straight (2) Ultimate Straight (5)

Even though this was the "Ultimate Straight" challenge, I was curious how it would hold up when I curled my hair. I thought it turned out so well! Plenty of shine and volume, plus the curls lasted all day (and a second day too...).

Overall, I am very pleased with this line of products. I plan to repurchase as needed. Have any questions or want to know more? Let us know in the comments below!
